Giles 'Denmark' Mitchell with EMS Synthi A, Oscilloscope, Tape to Tape Recorder, and Speaker. (1972)
Used for his music work that was performed at Trent Polytechnic 'Duet for Oscilloscope and Synthi'.
Whilst studying for DipAD in Fine Art at Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham, Giles 'Denmark' Mitchell who had since age 11 had improvised on the piano and with an interest in experimenting with sound and mixed media the Synthi A created a paradise of sound. The Oscilloscope was only gear that could express his music at that time - using reel to reel tape recorders - often to create delayed elements in construction of expressions - sound and otherwise.
See Giles Mitchell's correspondence with Tristram Cary who was a director at EMS in 1972
